Today SEGA announced that they will be bringing the Captain America series to consoles next summer with a WWII adventure.
Planned for release on Xbox360, PS3,Wii and Nintendo DS, Captain America : Super solider promises to be a "hird person action adventure game which combines dynamic acrobatic platforming with a fast and fluid melee combat system" Written by veteran marvel writer Christos Gage , Captain America : Super Solider will see players fighting legendary enemies from the Captain America series such as Iron Cross, The Hydra Army and the infamous Red Skull.

Nintendo Natter : Coming soon, Wii party
The selling point for the Wii was always meant to be the motion-sensitive controllers, but the first game that it came with was Wii Sports, which was not only a great laugh, but encouraged families and mates all over the country to run around their living rooms shouting things like "STRIKE!" and "what a serve!" (and even once my mate shouted "LOOK AT THOSE BALLS!" when playing baseball two player, which led to a multitude of giggles and a rapid decline in the subject of conversation). Then was released Wii Sports Resort, which was created to showcase the new motion+ features, whilst keeping the same fun, family atmosphere of the original. these were followed with Wii Winter Sports (featuring the Wii fit board), and Big Beach Sports.
But now, rather than jusy finding another set of sports to turn into a Wii game, we have Nintendos latest offering Wii Party, which is focused on multiplayer games, trying to get people involved and aims to test out the limits of these wireless, sound-enabled, motion sensitive controls. It seems not only to succed on both goals, but actually be an interesting, fun and above DIFFERENT type of game for the Wii.
The list of games includes: Board Game Island, Swap Meet, Balance Boat, Match Up, Hide 'N' Hunt, Spin Off, Buddy Quiz, Globe Trot and Time Bomb.

There will be quite a lot of games that will have the whole family either hunting for the hidden Wii remote as it makes bingly-bongly noises, or passing the Wii remote around as if it were a live bomb, there is even going to be bingo, so gran is going to be quite happy so long as some one explains how this "funny white stick" controls the people on the telly.
The list of games includes: Board Game Island, Swap Meet, Balance Boat, Match Up, Hide 'N' Hunt, Spin Off, Buddy Quiz, Globe Trot and Time Bomb.The asking price is btween 30 and 35 pounds, and this seems more than reasoble to me. Here is one game I will be looking forward to, and will be reviewing as soon as possible. I cant wait to have my mates shouting "DON'T SET IT OFF!" and "where the F&*% is it?!?!" (Although i do see a posible increas in the number of "false alarm" calls the police get about bombs).
NEWS : Ninja Theory Joins TIGA
Today TIGA (The Independent Game-developers Association) responsible for representing independent developers commercially and protecting the UK Games Industry announced their latest signing.
Ninja Theory were the masterminds behind Heavenly Sword (2007) ,the upcoming release of Enslaved : Odyssey to the West and are responsible for the recently announced Devil May Cry reboot DmC. With big titles like this the Cambridge based company are becoming big players in the games industry and want to help make sure that the UK remains the best place to release games.
Dr Richard Wilson welcomed Ninja Theory and released this statement.
"Ninja Theory is a company of world-class creativity and boundless ambition. At TIGA we are extremely proud to represent the UK development community and look forward to working with Ninja Theory in the coming months and years"
I can only see this as a good thing and look forward to more releases from Ninja Theory.

NEWS: Panasonic to Re-renter the Market with handheld Jungle
Panasonic have recently announced they will be re-entering the gaming console race with the new handheld Jungle.
In a world where everyone and everything connects to the internet a console that is built purely on that notion doesn't sound such a bad idea, well this is the basis for the Panasonic Jungle, designed specifically for online gaming and MMOG's the Jungle features a Hi-res HD screen aswell as keyboard, Dpad , touch pad and what looks to be either dual analog sticks of very large speakers. The only confirmed game at this point in time is Battlestar Galactica Online, but a whole host of cloud based games have been promised. At present no further information has been provided but I will be sure to update as soon as I know more.

Monday film news update: Superman 2012
You may have already read the first of my weekly film news posts, and i wanted to leave it there, but with news this fresh, who can resist a quick update? According to a new press release, Zack Snyder has been confirmed as the director of the Superman: Man of Steel 2012 project, with Christopher Nolan as an executive producer. I'm not quite sure how I feel about this, as Nolan and Snyder have distinctly different approaches to adapting comic-book heroes in cinema - Batman Begins and The Dark Knight were darkly psychological investigations into the inner workings of the iconic characters; Snyders adaptation of Watchmen was visually bold and technically wonderful, but left out large chunks of important narrative and managed to offend Alan Moore himself. Perhaps this will be a dream team of dedicated enthusiasts, but i remain unconvinced by this decision - only time will tell.

Monday film news: Sherlock Holmes 2 and more
Starfish here! I thought as well as doing reviews of new releases, it would be nice to do a weekly news page of what is happening or rumoured to happen in the world of the silver screen. And as today happens to be a Monday, it seems an appropriate time to start off.
There's quite a few exciting projects in action at the moment, with some of my personal favorite pieces of literature and comic books in the works as adaptations. Right now, we have:
Sherlock Holmes 2: After the phenomenal success of the first of Guy Ritchies reworking, i have been eagerly following the rumour mill around the all-important casting of one of the most important characters, Sherlocks 'arch-nemesis', Professor Moriarty. After the brilliant, if unusual, performance given by Andrew Scott in this years BBC television series I will be hard to impress, but the casting has been released as Jared Harris, a relative unknown besides his current role in Mad Men. On the other hand, the marvellous Stephen Fry shall be playing Mycroft, Sherlocks older brother, with Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law returning as Holmes and Watson. The film is due for release December 2011.
The Avengers: Comic-book nerds rejoice! Finally, a half-good chance of a good adaption. Based of course on the titular Marvel heroes, featuring Iron Man, The Hulk, Thor and Captain America, among other iconic characters. Not a lot of information as of yet on the plot or
release date, but it will be produced by Marvel Studios, and is intended as a cross-over into other films such as the Iron Man franchise. Directed by man-of-the-moment Joss Whedon, and a confirmed cast of Robert Downey Jr, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans and an unconfirmed Scarlett Johansson. Filming planned to start Spring 2011.
Superman: I was definitely not a fan of any of the recent Superman re-imaginings, but with the skill and enthusiasm of director Christopher Nolan on board, anything is possible. It has not yet been confirmed whether Nolan will actually be directing, or taking a role as executive producer, neither has any casting been confirmed. The film is being written by David Goyer, and will concern an early Superman first crossing paths with the rogue genius Lex Luthor. I'll keep updating on the details as and when they are released, but its looking at a 2012 release as we stand.
There are plenty other projects in the works that I could talk about, but i'll keep it brief today. My film reviews will be continuing as and when I watch them, next on the hit-list is The Social Network.

NEWS : Britains Best Nintendo Gamer 2010 EDIT : Now includes Locations
This month sees the return of Nintendos Best Gamer Competition across various stores on the 16th and 17th.
The news came as part of the London Games Festival and the Press Release reads as follows
"After the success of last year's competition, Britain's Best Nintendo Gamer will be making a welcome return. Gamers can compete at participating GAME and Gamestation stores Nationwide on 16th and 17th October. Players will 'Coin Battle' on Super Mario Bros. Wii and the top scoring gamer and runner up from each participating store will receive all new first party Wii releases for a year, the Nintendo 3DS on UK release, and all sixteen finalists will shoot it out on the all new GoldenEye 007 for Wii at the Grand Finale in London. The winner will be announced on 29thOctober at The Golden Joystick Awards"
